Co-operative Status in Company Law under threat

As part of the government’s ‘red tape challenge’, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is consulting on a proposal to strip the word ‘co-operative’ of protected status at Companies House, meaning any business could call itself a co-operative.

We are strongly opposed to this and have written a draft response here, members can let us know if they would want any amendments to our response or we encourage you to submit your own.

The deadline is the 22nd May. If you want to input into the CYH response you need to email comments to by the 20th May.

Sheffield Co-ops Directory

An IT co-operative in Sheffield has set up a new online directory and forum for all co-operative organisations in the city.

Developed by Webarchitects (Webarch Co-operative Limited), the site will become a directory, networking and  news service for community co-operatives in Sheffield.

Co-operatives Yorkshire and the Humber Enhanced Benefits Package

Join our enhanced scheme for a number of new benefits including a free place at Futures North 2011.
