This event will be a network event, SETAS launch, and present awards to the first Social Enterprise Mark holders in the region. There will also be a workshop on the regional Co-operative Enterprise Hub, run by Jon Clarke of Humberside CDA.

General Election Manifestos

Most parties have been talking about co-operatives and mutuals in the last few weeks. Co-operatives UK has commented on the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat manifestos launched the other week. More information can be found here.

Leeds West Indian Carnival 2010

The carnival, taking place on August Bank Holiday (30th), is an excellent opportunity to promote ‘the co-operative movement in your community’ Supported by the Leeds and Wakefield Area Committee, Laura Taggart is working on trying to bring together as many different co-operators, from Leeds and beyond, together to promote the movement.

Employee Buy-out of Sutcliffe Play

Sutcliffe Play, based in West Yorkshire, is a large manufacturer of outdoor play equipment. It has recently transferred ownership and is now employee owned. The transfer of ownership was completed on 8 April after complex legal and financial arrangements. The majority of the shares are now held by an employee benefit trust on behalf of all the employees. In addition most of the 90 employees have personally invested in shares.

Yorkshire and the Humber Strategy Response

We submitted a joint response with SEYH to the call for evidence for the Integrated Regional Strategy. This can be viewed here. We'll keep you updated with any developments.
